Hi Blue Heron Families.

Tomorrow is the big day!  First meet of the season.  We will still hold a normal practice schedule in the morning.  Please remember to check out our SWIM MEET 101 page here for lots of good information.  Attached you will find the Heat Sheet for the meet.

This first meet will just be our team racing each other.  This is a perfect opportunity for our new families to see how a swim meet is run without the pressure of hosting another team.  Please ask questions and get involved.  It's a really fun way to support your swimmer(s).  

A big THANK YOU to all of you who will be volunteering during the meet.  We would not be able to run swim meets without you.  If you have questions about your role, please feel free to ask! 

Here are a few things parents can do to be supportive of their swimmers.

1.  Allow the coaches to give your swimmers feedback on their race. 
A good parent response is, "I loved watching you swim!" 

2.  Please don't compare your swimmer with other swimmers.  Teach them to race the clock and focus on self-improvement.  They can ask the timers for their times... or get their times from the swimmingly app.

3.  If your child shows some anxiety, that is normal... coaches can be helpful (sometimes it's better if the parent isn't right there)... just let us know.  We want every swimmer to have fun and feel positive about the experience :)

4.  If you are timing and you have a younger swimmer, don't worry!  Your swimmer will be well taken care of by our Heron's Nest Volunteers.  They will make sure your swimmer gets where they need to be when they need to be there.  * All swimmers must stay in their age group Heron's Nest, so that we can find them when they are needed.

Meet Schedule:

2:45pm:  Volunteers should arrive and check in at Volunteer Table.
               Swimmers should arrive and check in to Heron's Nests.

3:00pm:  Swimmers will begin warm-ups.

3:30pm:  Visiting team will begin warm-ups... during a normal dual meet.

4:00pm:  Meet begins

** Team merch and concessions will be available for purchase.  We will have Chik-Fil A sandwiches.
