Hello Blue Heron Family,

Our coaching staff met with the coaching supervisor this past weekend to plan our inaugural season. We have a lot of great ideas and we are confident it will be a memorable summer. All of our wonderful coaches live in Westhaven and are ready to help train our swimmers!

For our first week of practice we plan to start with a few days of “dryland” activities. We will meet on the Great Lawn behind the Westhaven Residents’ Club at our normal practice times. The coaches will run team building activities, teach proper stretching techniques and help swimmers learn body awareness. These activities will be used throughout the season to warm up the swimmers’ bodies prior to getting in the pool for practice each day.

If you are looking to purchase goggles this year, we are suggesting a mirror finish to help with swimming outdoors. Speedo makes a pair for kids, and there is a local shop called All American Swim Shop in Brentwood if you need to try on before purchasing to ensure the right fit.

Currently we are working on designing our team shirts and other fun apparel to sell in the Herons Nest online store. We can’t wait to share those details with you soon!
